Can't Fight the Love.....

Even though she is a traitor when guests come over, forgetting all about me, I can't help but love her...can you?

Aprons for Nuns

Alright my faithful readers - I have finally have taken a photo of the infamous apron! Note the quality workmanship...ahahaha. Also note the 'Goodwill' fabric I told you about a few days ago.

As you can see, the apron is also multifunctional - Sister Ethel likes to use the apron as a habit - and doesn't it suit her? I have also included a picture of the drawstring bag I completed during one of my sewing classes at The Sewing Studio - sorry for the foggy picture. I love this fabric too. I think I'm on an orange kick...

I am now an official member of the "Fabricland's Spectacular Sewing Club". Please note that this is not a huge accomplishment as I just had to give them $20 for this title. A great deal though as I am now entitled to all kinds of sewing savings. I feel.....special (I hope my sarcasm is coming across).

Guess what!?!? The apron is done! I plan to take pictures on the weekend as I will have a digital camera in my paws by then. I am so proud of myself. It is quite a smashing apron.

Also have some other projects that I must post pictures of. Of course I would never have finished these projects...or learned to sew for that matter (although I have just scrapped the surface I am sure) if it wasn't for a little jewel of a place called
"The Sewing Studio".

I have just finished taking the Introductory Sewing Class at The Sewing Studio. I enjoyed it immensely! Projects include a double drawstring bag, a zippered pouch and - ready for this? - A SKIRT! Yes you heard it right! A skirt. I have my last class on Saturday and if I work diligently I will have it completed when I leave.

What a great thing Denise (the owner) has going on! Denise - if you are reading this, I am definately signing up for Ready to Wear in the very near future. Also want to extend my gratitude to my teacher Rina - you have the patience of a saint! Please check out their website and sign up for a class - you won't regret it! http://www.lovesewing.com/

That is my ramble for today.

Apron Appeal

Good morning!

So I started a new project last night. I was inspired by a book I bought on the weekend -'In Stitches', by Amy Butler. This is a fabulous book with all kinds of fun projects aimed at beginner to intermediate level sewers. I think any level of sewer would enjoy the projects and beautiful photographs in this book - I like it so much, I intend to showcase it on my coffee table. Amy gives easy to understand instructions and includes patterns where applicable.
I am making the apron featured in her book (pic above). I am using some groovy retro fabric that I found at the Goodwill Store (What a steal! 3.99 for 5 metres!). Bright orange and yellow flowers on a white background - I love it. I spent 2 hours on it last night (I know...with that amount of time I should have completed the apron, but like I said, I am new at this sewing thing) and will work on it again tonight. I will post some pictures of the finished product once it is complete.

Here we go....

Wow! I'm blogging! I feel like I have joined the ranks of the computer savvy (I am not computer savvy in the least, but let's just pretend).

So this is my introductory post. The main reason for taking on this blogging adventure is my new found hobby of sewing. I am quite the sewing novice - not savvy in this area either, but I hope to be in the future! What better way to track my sewing evolution?

Of course, I am interested in other things, and have many other hobbies. I will likely write about these things as well. This blog will basically be a cosy corner to be enjoyed with a coffee or tea.

Mom, I dedicate this site to you - I hope you enjoy it!
