A Little Laptop and a Little Profanity...

This post is especially for my brother B. He 'loves' it (sarcasm anyone?) when I post pictures of my cat on my blog.
Did I mention that I bought myself a new laptop!?!? I LOVE it! It is so nice and sleek and it takes up very little room - especially compared to the pre-historic dinosaur computer I had before. It is an HP in case you want one for yourself.

Dublin loves it too. She finds the navigation arrow really interesting! It is the best cat toy out there in her opinion.

Why is it that this cat has to sit on everything I am working on? She just wants all of my attention - all the time. Goodness me.

So for all of your sewers out there, I need to vent. I spent all night last night on a new wristlet for my 'collection' and had the most difficult time with it! I am using some outdoor fabric canvass as I thought it would be nice and sturdy and stain/water resistant. What a pain to sew with! Especially with the heavy lining and interfacing I'm using.

I finally got the thing together and then I added the snap closure...hmmm...yep, you guessed it - too thick. The snap pops off! #$%&!!!!!! <-------- I said that a lot last night. Profanity city I tell you!

So now I need to find a better solution. I'm thinking a magnetic closure...we'll see. I've used velcro as a closure in the past, but I had someone tell me that they thought velcro made the purse look a bit cheap. Do you think velcro closures look cheap? Would love to hear your opinion on that.

Ooh La-La!

A new purse for my purse family! This is the classy older sister that you always wanted to be like. The sister who always had perfect hair, nails and always smelt like roses. That is the personality of my new wristlet! I call her Winona.

Don't let the name Winona fool you. This purse can fit a lot for its size but not a "borrowed" cashmere sweater from Channel or from wherever those celebrity types "shop"...

I love her...I intend to make one for myself. This one is in the shop!

All kidding aside, I love the other Winona too - I think she needs a purse like this one, don't you?

Freebie Friday

I forgot all about my Freebie Friday commitment - sorry about that, but let's forget the past and start fresh! Here is your Freebie Friday for today!

I never thought I'd live the day where I lusted for a sewing room, an organized sewing room at that. My little apartment just isn't cut out for this purpose, but while I dream of a future house and bigger spaces, I thought I would help all of you who have the room now.

I found a great article to help you better organize your sewing/crafting/whatever room. Click here for your porthole to organization, clutter-free living and happiness...

The Summer is Starting to Set...

I cannot take credit for this picture as my lovely H.H. took it. The only flaw with the picture (although he would say there are absolutely no flaws whatsoever) is that he left the date on the camera when he took the picture). All of that aside, I thought it was a fitting picture for today's post.
I got the fall feeling today. Just a hint of it. Perhaps it was a brief scent in the wind, or all of the fall clothing appearing in storefront windows. Yes, the sun is starting to set on summer. I know it's sad, and nobody wants to hear it, but it's true. So get on out there and finish all of the things you wanted to do this summer! We still have about a month left!

So in May a wrote a little list of things I wanted to accomplish this summer and I thought I would see how I've done:

1. Go to the beach at least 5 times (not including local city beaches - sounds easy, but I am an 2 hours away from any real beach) - only 3 so far, not bad...

2. Go camping (real camping as H.H calls it, without a car) - this has not happened yet....girls, have you thought about camping in a secluded area with bears when it is that time of the month? I researched how to handle this issue and it ain't pretty! Google it before you plan a wilderness trip. That's all I will say.

3. Rent a cottage for a weekend - possibly soon - looks like it may be in the fall

4. Spend more time outdoors - yes, I think I've accomplished this. I have been biking all summer and spending a lot of time on the lake Dragon Boating

5. Maintain some sort of tan - I have successfully maintained a healthy glow throughout this summer season (so there Mom!)

6. Go on a spontaneous road trip - mmmmm, nope....I suppose this would be more achievable if I had a car....what was I thinking with this one?

7. Enjoy more sunsets - I think I've only actually sat down specifically to watch a sunset twice this year. Gotta do more.

8. Eat more ice cream - this happened but was short lived. All I had to do was look down at the little roll hanging over the top of my hip hugging jeans to throw that one out the window.

9. Live in the moment - I really think I've been making progress on this one. I have to remind myself often, because it is so easy to think "what do I have to do tomorrow" or "next week I'll do this", or "things will be better once I have that". This is one to work on all year really.

10. Spend more time with the ones I love, whether it be family or friends, and strengthen those relationships - More to do on this one, but so far so good.

Live in the moment everyone and enjoy summer while it's here!

Another Smoggy in Day in Toronto Town...

There are lots of great things about living in Toronto, but a smoggy, hot and humid day like today is not one of them. I can't move my pinkie finger without sweating (and it's only 8am!). See it creeping in? It's coming to get us. I would prefer snow to this.
Oh alright! I sound grumpy. What can I say that's positive today? Er.....ummm....uhhh. Darn it! Can't think of one thing.
Maybe I had better keep this post short so as not to subject all of you to my grumpiness...it is catchy you know.
Until tomorrow...

Sunday Morning...

Good morning everyone. What a nice morning it is too! Another heatwave has somewhat mercifully taken the high road and left us. Thank goodness! It is a beautiful Sunday morning, and I am enjoying a bowl full of blueberries and peaches along with a bagel and a coffee. Mmmm!
I've just been surfing blog land and getting caught up on the events of my blog friends - it has been a while. I have been neglecting my blog and other relaxing activities in order to build up my bag inventory. I tend to go overboard with these things and have noticed that I need a breather. I must stop myself for a while.
H.H. and I went on a road trip yesterday to the beach. We headed down to "Long Point" a gorgeous provincial park with an amazing beach! I wish I had some pictures for you, but I opted to lay around in the sun and do nothing yesterday - didn't take one picture!
Long point is located in southern Ontario on the shores of Lake Erie. Right across the lake from Pennsylvania (for my American friends). It is basically as the name says - a long point or peninsula. It is an eco-friendly environment and harbours all kinds of birds and wildlife.
The beach sand is very fine and there a huge sand dunes! Definitely worth a visit!

On another note - looky what I received in the mail the other day! A fellow Etsy seller sent me these lovely earrings for free - just for being the 303rd person to visit her shop. It was such a lovely surprise and the earrings are just perfect! Letitiah has a whole shop full of AMAZING jewelery. Please visit her store here.

Please note that the picture showing the earrings were taken directly from Letitiah's website as my camera ran out of battery power and I couldn't take pictures myself. As you can see, she is also a great photographer! Thanks again Letitiah - I love them!

That's it for today - I am off to check my email now. Have a great weekend everyone. Talk to you soon!
